Advisory: Certain HP Ultra320 SCSI Hard Drives May Exhibit Reduced Performance and/or Excessive Timeouts

DESCRIPTION
A ProLiant server configured internally or externally with any of the HP Ultra320 SCSI hard drives listed in the Scope section below may exhibit reduced performance and/or excessive timeouts. This is caused by the dynamically adjusted seek time profile table in the drive firmware, after it becomes degraded.
When this occurs, the reduced performance is characterized by occasional brief delays in command response times while servicing random workloads. In severe cases, the drive may exhibit command timeouts, which will require a server reboot for recovery.
There is no risk of data loss associated with this issue, which affects performance only.
Note: These hard drives will not be replaced by HP to correct this issue.
SCOPE
Any HP Ultra320 SCSI hard drive listed in Table 1 below using firmware version HPB4 (or earlier) or in Table 2 using firmware version HPB8 (or earlier):
